From 2009 to 2014 I worked in roles at Apple that primarily involved writing & maintaining software used during iOS device production process to test & validate the devices before being boxed up. Later I worked on automating those same testing lines.
These roles required that we support the phases of mass production on-site which meant I spent a signifcant amount of time in China, 中国, the Middle Kingdom. Not as a tourist mind you and to this day I've never visited on anything but a business visa.
These are my memories of that time, although I'm only starting to write them down a decade after I'd stopped traveling. As I get older I feel it's important I put this all "on paper". If only for myself, much later, when I can't remember any of this anymore.
